Isi artikelQuality management is a philosophy that focuses on continuous improvement of the systems through a people focused management system. Traditional thrust of the quality programs was towards the organizations. Recent years however have seen an increased realization of the fact that in order to achieve sustained competitiveness, performance of a single organization is not enough, instead the whole chain of organizations involved in meeting the customer requirements needs to improve in order to achieve/sustain competitive advantage. In this respect, it is important to understand how quality management impacts the supply chain performance so as to justify the time and cost investments in variety of quality programs. Current study is based on the investigation of this relationship. In this study authors investigate the impact of quality management on supply chain performance. Additionally the meditating role of supply chain management practices of a firm is also studied. Structural equation modeling through partial least square analysis has been employed to investigate these relationships. The results of the study show that quality management has a significant impact on supply chain performance and supply chain management practices mediate this relationship. The study contributes to the literature by justifying the investments on the quality programs in the modern times where the focus has shifted towards the supply chains instead of organizations. It also points out to the fact that quality management and supply chain management practices when implemented in tandem support each others’ performance. These results thus argue for a close collaboration between the quality and supply chain departments of the organizations.
