This study examines changes of budget deficit, economic growth and inflation in Vietnam during the period 1990 to 2012. On the basis of time series data of budget deficit, economic growth and inflation; Var model, Granger causality test, Impulse Response Functions (IRFs) and Variance Decomposition are used to examine the relationship between them. The research results show that the relationship exists between the budget deficit (BD), economic growth (GDP) and inflation (INF) with the impact direction is budget deficit (BD), growth economy (GDP) are causes of inflation (INF). Thus, the study suggests some policy implications to control inflation in Vietnam based on controlling the budget deficit and set reasonable economic growth goal.
