Ellipsis refers to the leaving out of words, phrases or clauses from sentences where they are unnecessary because they have already been referred to or mentioned earlier. Research is a systemic approach to find answers to questions. In writing and completing this analysis, the writer applies the descriptive qualitative research. Descriptive research method is the method which analyzes only in descriptive level in order to make it easier to be understood. Regarding to the title “Ellipsis in the VOA News Transcription”, the writer would like to analyze the VOA Economy news transcription on May 2011 in English News Texts as published by website of www.voanews.com, those three types of ellipsis are found. They are Nominal ellipsis (25%), Verbal ellipsis (21%) and Clausal Ellipsis (54%).the most dominant ellipsis which is using in VOA news texts is Clausal ellipsis. Clausal ellipsis is the most dominant since the author or the news writers decrease the repetition of words and they are sure that the readers of the news texts are educated people.
