Isi artikel
Alas bamboo is one of endemic bamboo species grow in protected forests of Sepang Hill, Bali, where in the wild habitat is endangered nowadays. This lianas bamboo was recommended as new endemic species with the name of Dinochloa sepang Widjaja & Astuti, however the population has not been reported yet. An area of one hectare study plot consisting of 10 sub-plots, each measuring 50 m x 20 m was made to determine the existing population. The results revealed that the population of Dinochloa sepang was 360 culms (45 clumps) per hectare including natural regeneration that produced shoots very low at only 32 culms per hectare. Harvested culms i.e. 75 culms per hectare exceeded the number of young culms produced which were 72 culms per hectare. Morphological description of Dinochloa sepang is also discussed in this paper.
