Isi artikel
More than 70 million people in the United States and more than 1 billion worldwide have hypertension — defined by a systolic blood pressure of at least 140 mm Hg and a diastolic blood pressure of at least 90 mm Hg — and the numbers are increasing steadily. Despite remarkable advances in pharmacotherapy, which have given us the ability to lower elevated blood pressure in almost everyone, hypertension remains a major public health problem as a critically important risk factor for cardiovascular and renal disease.
