Child sexual abuse is an important isue in psychology since it entails serious physical and psychological consequences. Analysis of media reports indicates that the home and the school are not safe environments for children, especially girls. Many of the victims of sexual abuse are very young. Parents or step parents, guardians, known adults, as well as teachers are often the perpetrators. This article also highlights the incidence of child sexual exploitation by paedophils as investigated by an NGO and the police in Bali island. At present, legal action has not been effective due to lack of report, knowledge and skills of the officers.
