Isi artikel
As Rosendahl et al1 aver, dysplastic nevi exist as being “histologically and possibly genetically different from common nevus, with some overlapping features.” As such, they deserve consideration, by whatever name. The topic was discussed in 2 consensus conferences.2,3 In the first, the use of the term “dysplasia” was endorsed for these lesions that are morphologically intermediate between common nevi and melanomas. In the second, their existence was not denied, but a new term was proposed, to wit “nevus with architectural disorder and cytologic atypia.” Because architectural disorder and cytologic atypia are defining features of histologic dysplasia, it is not clear how these 2 terms differ.
