Isi artikelThe purposes of this study were to find out the students’ errors in translating English descriptive texts into Indonesian, to find out the kinds of errors made by the students in translating English descriptive texts into Indonesian, and to describe the frequency distribution of errors made by the students. This study employed a descriptive qualitative method. The subjects of this research were thirty one of the tenth grade students of computer network and support class in SMKN 3 Metro, taken purposively. The data were gathered from the students’ works in translating the English descriptive text “my best friend” into Indonesian, taken from the English book for ten grade. The collected data were analyzed by means of error analysis started from collecting the data, identifying the errors from the students’ answer sheet, classifying the errors based on the types, describing the errors on each type and finally deciding which type was mostly made. This study revealed that the four types of errors were all found, namely omission errors, addition errors, misformation errors, and misordering errors. However, the most frequent errors in fact were found in addition type.
