Isi artikelThe aim of the research was to know the effect of caricature on students’ ability in developing argumentative writing, while the methodology of the research was Classroom Action Research (CAR. The researcher applied three meetings on each cycle; two meetings for the teaching and learning process and one meeting for the evaluation or the test. The scores were taken from the essay tests of the argumentative writing which given to the students on cycle 1 and cycle 2. Those scores have to be counted to find whether there was improvement on students’ ability in developing argumentative writing by using caricature. The result of the students’ average score on cycle 1 was 59.2 and the result of the students’ average score on cycle 2 was 66.17. So, there was increasing score from cycle 1 to cycle 2. The gain from the increasing was 6.97. From the evidence above, the researcher concludes that there is positive effect of the using caricature in teaching argumentative writing. The students who are taught by using caricature have better writing ability on developing argumentative writing than those who are taught by using traditional method. The students more active in the class and the students more interested in developing argumentative writing by using caricature media. As suggestion, the researcher hopes that the teachers have to be able to choose appropriate method in teaching English.
