The effect of the microstructure and mechanical properties locally made arc-melting to identify the phases present in the samples. The micr samples was characterized using scanning electron microscop energy dispersive spectroscopy (EDS). Compression tests were carried out at room temperature using show that the Ti-48Al alloy exhibited addition of Cr a nearly lamellar microstructure was observed in Ti with the addition of both Cr and Mo values increased slightly the alloying elements. The presence of Cr in Ti increase in compressive fracture strain. produced a higher yield strength and fracture str to the other as-cast TiAl alloys. alloys, mixed brittle transgranular and interlamellar fracture modes were predominantly observed. Keywords: alloying elements properties; microstructure. 1 Introduction Currently, there is an increase in demand conversion systems with improved efficiency and ecological compatibility. Higher operating temperature required for advanced design concept capability of conventional metallic systems such as titanium alloy IMI834 reported to have reached their will be required if further advancement is to be made. Intermetallic based alloys are widely recognized as having the potential to meet the design requirements mentioned above because of Sci., Vol. 45, No. 3, 2013, 294-306 29th, 2013, 2nd Revision September 16th, 2013, Accepted for 2337-5779, DOI: 10.5614/j.eng.technol.sci.2013.45.3. As-Cast TiAl Alloys hmad Fauzi Mohd. X-ray diffraction (XRD) was used microstructure of the TiAl microscopy combined with an Instron servohydraulic testing machine. The results a duplex microstructure, whereas with the Ti-48Al-2Cr and also in Ti-48Al-2Cr-2Mo. The hardness as compared to the Ti-48Al alloy with the addition of Ti-48Al-2Cr resulted in a slight The as-cast Ti-48Al-2Cr-2Mo alloy strain in compression as compared On the fracture surfaces of the as-cast TiAl alloys, mixed brittle transgranular and interlamellar fracture modes were predominantly observed
