The purpose of this study was to develop a smart learning-teaching model and its digital textbook for learning science the creative problem-solving process and interaction using digital devices in classroom. The smart learning model was developed with the following learning theories; self-regulation, intrinsic motivation, collaborative learning, and resource free with digital devices. The developed smart learning model was composed of the phases of Exploration of Knowledge, Production of Knowledge, Evaluation of Knowledge and Sharing of Knowledge. Each phase is consisted with learning objective, teaching method, learning strategy & activities, applied digital technologies, and produced scientific knowledge. Specifically, we used iPad, smartphone, Evernote, Google Drive, Facebook, Daum Cloud, Keynote, and others as the digital technologies. We named this model as ‘SMART Knowledge Generation Model’. Using this model, we designed a digital textbook, a kind of digital e-book, with iBooks Author software. The designed digital textbook was applied to a high school biology class. The applied results was analyzed and reported in this study. This study also discussed the characteristics of smart education and digital textbook for digital generation learners.
