Isi artikelThe purpose of this study was to examine the effect of Time Management Program(TMP) on the time management capability and academic self-efficacy of underachievement children of elementary school. The research questions of this study were as follows: First, does the TMP enhance the capability of time management of underachievement children of elementary school? Second, does the TMP improve the academic self-efficacy of underachievement children of elementary school? This study was conducted with pre-and post-test experimental design. 30 sixth graders who underachieved were subjects in this study and they were selected from two elementary schools in Busan, South Korea. The experiment group (n=15) was sampled from W elementary school and the control group (n=15) was from G elementary school. The TMP was applied to the experimental group in 24 sessions for 12 weeks and each session was 45 minutes. Pre-and post-test were done to both experimental group and control group by Time Management Scale and Academic Self-Efficacy Scale. To verify the effect of the TMP, the analysis of covariance (ANCOVA) was conducted. The results of this study were as follows: First, the experimental group who participated in the TMP showed significantly improvement in their capability of time management than the control group. Second, the experimental group didn't show statistically significant difference in academic self-efficacy. However, self-regulation efficacy, one of sub-factors of the academic self-efficacy was improved. To sum up, the TMP had positive effects on the time management capability of underachievement children of elementary school, but didn't have any positive effect on the academic self-efficacy. Thus, the TMP could be considered as a consulting program to develop the time management capability of underachievement children of elementary school. Also, the self-regulation efficacy could be enhanced through the TMP.
