Isi artikelAs students learn and develop concepts, images are acquired. Research literature indicates that these are images of action. The study was conducted to explore the students’ images and views about chemistry of four groups of respondents. Results showed the various students images in chemistry and learning chemistry and its relation to student achievement. The study revealed that students’ images of chemistry were more on laboratory works, experimentation, mathematical equations and problem solving. Students viewed chemistry as a difficult subject but found chemistry interesting and important to make life easier and better. Results also showed that students have folk profile on their views of chemistry and learning chemistry and these students’ profiles on their views of chemistry and learning chemistry have low significant correlation on their achievement in chemistry. Based on these findings, students hold various images on chemistry and learning chemistry and most student-respondents are naïve realists and passive learners.
