Isi artikelThis work describes the nature of practices in and views of students about their education in the Middle East Philippine schools. Graduates from different Middle East Philippine schools were asked to rate the skills and values they believe they had acquired from their teachers in basic education. Data was gathered through individual interviews. The values and skills students acquired were subdivided according to their theoretical bases which are the following: essentialism-perennialism, progressivism-social reconstructionism, analytic philosophy, and existentialism. Evidence shows that progressivism and social reconstructionism are the dominant theoretical bases of practices in the former schools of the interviewees. The participants said they most strongly agree that they have acquired educational skills and values traceable to progressivism and social reconstructionism. They strongly agree that they have acquired educational skills and values traceable to essentialism and perennialism. The respondents thought that they have not acquired much skills and values that are traceable to analytic philosophy and existentialism.
