Isi artikelThis study reports a project based learning implemented in an EFL speaking class to teacher candidates in English Education Department, Sultan Ageng Tirtayasa state University, Banten. This project based learning was applied in order to provide students more opportunities to improve not only their speaking skills but also other three skills e.g., listening, reading and writing. Embracing the characteristics of a case study and to some extent a program evaluation research design, data in this study were obtained from classroom observations, and interviews with the student participating in this study conducted immediately after the teaching program completed. The results revealed more benefits students gained from this as they were not only able to speak well in English but also better in other three skills-reading, writing and listening. This suggests that project based learning is one potential teaching methods that can be applied by teachers and as potential effort to help students be a competent in communication in English.
