Today, the improvement in Information Technology has enabled many things that seemed to be impossible decades ago. Using Information Technology, many organizations, including universities, have changed their business from manual process to digital process in the effort of staying in their business. However, they must face a strategic change before they can adopt information change in order to make the change effective and efficient. The strategic change begins from the vision of the organizations to the actual plan. In fact, they have to reengineer themselves before being ready to journey into the digital era. This essay presents some actions in preparing the university for the future. First, the universities must decide where they are going to go or, in simple terms, what is their aim. Next, they decide what kind of facilities they can use, and choose the best alternatives. Finally, they must prepare a derivation model of a future university. This essay explains the necessary steps to deliver the ideal digital university model. The step begins from a change in the paradigm, builds the legacy system office system, applies the changes to the university organization, and prepares the future model of the digital university. In addition, this essay uses an object-oriented approach to explain and use information technology point of view. In conlusion, the university must have a valid masterplan, a strong legacy system and good resources before stepping into the next era. In relation to these, it is strongly recommended that university’s authorities support the process, use the outsource people whenever necessary, and anticipate the social cost.
