Isi artikel
Evaluation of mobile text entry methods involves complex decision-making taking into consideration both objective and subjective judgments of users. Currently, the literature on mobile text entry research focuses merely on speed and accuracy performance. Such evaluation based on speed and accuracy lacks better understanding on the inherent subjective dimension of the decision-making process. In this paper, we propose a multi-criteria evaluation model which extends speed and accuracy performance evaluation into a more comprehensive decision-making structure showing interrelationships of decision components. The proposed model captures other hidden criteria, basically subjective in content, which were not considered in current literature. This paper proposes the use of Analytic Network Process in handling the proposed model. A numerical example of evaluating five mobile text entry methods in popularly used Android smartphones is presented. Significant new insights are obtained showing the relevance of the proposed model in handling multi-criteria evaluation process.
