Isi artikelWith competition increasing, medical institutions seek for reducing operational cost. It is about 30-50% of operational cost are materials in healthcare, and most are hygienic materials. Hygienic materials have different types and frequency of usage, usage is affect by patients’ wound size, and it causes large of inventory and unpredictable quantity. Moreover, most nurses request the quantity of hygienic materials by personal experience. These situation significantly influence the replenishment of hygienic materials and medical service quality indirectly. Due to the uncertainty of hygienic materials usage, it is difficult to predict hygienic materials replenishment frequency and reduce the inventory level. Therefore, this paper applies Lean Thinking to reduce the cost of hygienic management and provide a method to estimate basic and safe quantity in healthcare. Finally, the proposed model could be applied on other hospital replenishment case.
