Isi artikelGlobal manufacturing companies are planning new factories and warehouses frequently. The planning duration of such complex and interdisciplinary projects are often longer than two or three years. To enable the comparison of these long lasting projects key performance indicators (KPIs) are essential. KPIs can support the analyses of different planning approaches on such projects as well as support the learning from old projects. This paper introduces a set of KPIs for factory planning projects. Furthermore, the KPIs are used to compare four different planning projects in a case study to first: verify the KPIs and second: indicate the differences between different kinds of factories, from industrial manufacturing to warehouse. Due to the conducted analyzes the KPIs could be verified as relevant and supportive to enable improvement of factory planning projects.
