Enterprises are facing turbulences and fast changing market demands worldwide. Consequently, agile and rapid factory planning processes are needed. Nevertheless, many planning projects are facing delays and challenges when handling the complexity. This paper analyses the current planning time relevant challenges for factory planning projects. Based on the findings this paper proposes a concept based on individualized planning processes and an early integration of manufacturing technology suppliers. By integrating equipment suppliers earlier in the planning process as well as standardizing the cooperation, less planning loops are probable and planning efficiency can be increased. Further, standardizing the supplier proposal with a guideline enables planners to better use simulations to design top class factories faster and more efficiently.
