A research was conducted to evaluate the effects of 2,3,7,8 tetrachlorodibenzo-p-dioxin (TCDD) on the histopatoogic changes of liver, kidney and lung of rats (Rattus norvegicus). Sixteen male Sparague-Dawley rats,2-2.5 months of age and 170-200g of body weight were adapted to the research environment for one week. All rats were randomly alloted into 2 groups of 8 rats. The first group was given 1 ml/kg bw/ oral/ day of PBS pH 7,2 as placebo for 60 days. The second group was treated orally with 2,3,7,8 TCDD 5ug/kg bw on the first day and on the following day by 1 ug TCDD/kg bw/ day for 60 days. On the day 30 and 60, the liver, kidney and lung of 4 rats in each group were removed after euthanized and fixed in 10% formalin buffer for histopathologic preparation were analysed discriptively by compairing the treated to control animals. The results of this study revealed that TCDD caused fatty degeneration and hydrophic degeneration of hepatocytes, glomerular atrophy and necrotic of the epithelial tubular of the kidneys and pneumonia interstitialis of the lungs.
