Isi artikelThe teaching of literature at the high school level is sometimes likened to the teaching of life itself. In a classroom of teenagers who are typically brimming over with energy, a literary text - a story, poem, or an essay can be the ideal starter for a discussion of significant human experiences : family, romance, friendship, war, adventure or other such topics that matter to the adolescent girl or boy. In which case, therefore, teachers need to plan their literature lessons with their students' need in mind : What themes interset them ? What new experiences can I expose them to ? What values will this text communicate to them ? Will they have fun in this lesson ?
