Isi artikelPT XYZ is a company engaged in the printing paper that has very large raw material. Most companies that use products from PT. XYZ are large company such as private banks and other manufacturing companies to make pay slips, lottery tickets. The problem that often occur in the company is transportation. The company doesn’t have a standard of unit load and their vehicle to transport the material are limited. It causes accumulation of goods that cause defect and led to delays the production process. The research was conducted to provide an optimal unit loads and the number of optimum vehicle that the company need in the process to meet the largest demand in the period of December 2011. This research uses Lingo 8.0 software to analyze the vehicle which is Forklift. The research will also calculate the Forklift capacity to transport raw materials and finished goods. Raw materials transport are divided into three conditions: 5, 8 and 10 unit loads. Finished good was devided into three condition: 30, 45 and 60 unit loads. The results will be analyzed based on the smallest total of time and total travel distance. The parameters which have the smallest total time and total travel distance is the best paremeters. From the results, the best contitons to transport raw materials is using 10 unit load which can decrease 84.3% of total time and 75.3% of travel distance. For finished goods, the best conditions is to increase the number of vehicles and use 2 more vehicle with 44 unit load which can decrease 32.98% of total time and total distance decreased by 27.65%. These research also determine the best type of vehicle in engineering economic’s perspective. From the calculation result, it can be caoncluded that the best solution is to add the Hand Trucks for 3 units.
