A solid approach, a clear and well-organized method, and a variety of exciting and arousing techniques-the ingredients of a successful language teacher-are of no help to the person who has lost or is about to lose his or her job. To reverse current trends, e.g., reductions in the number of positions and in some cases total elimination of a language department, it is necessary to find ways to change the negative image associated with ‘foreign’ languages and to make efforts to attract more students to our courses. A four-point selling program is suggested. Modified and adapted to suit a particular school environment, this program will increase enrollments.
