This article describes the training program for teaching assistants in the French Department of the University of California at Davis. The program consists of a one-week orientation workshop, continued supervision and evaluation, supervision in the language laboratory, and assistance in testing and evaluation of students. The program pertains to the lower-level curriculum, i.e., the first and second years of language study.
