In order to provide students with supplementary drills, basically in French grammar, a simple but highly versatile program of computer-assisted drills called MONIQUE was designed for student use. Written in 2000F Time- Shared Basic, MONIQUE affords the students a wide variety of optional, conveniently accessible drills on various grammatical and cultural topics. MONIQUE is a relatively inexpensive program to store and is very economical from the point of view of teacher-use time at the console. The program is personalized for each student and, by virtue of its versatility, c a n b e writtenin aforeign language or in English, with much variety in the format of the opening dialogue and rewardheprimand rejoinders. These computerassisted drills are highly motivational and offer students ungraded mini-tests. Student response to MONIQUE has been favorable and enthusiastic.
