It has been taken so much for granted that word category can be discretely categorized, hence every word stands on its own category. This linguistic phenomenon has been deeply rooted over times into the minds of language learners and linguistics societies. Many people did not realize that it was a theory. The theory was not just taken to be true, yet it came to be taken as something definitional or conclusive. The nature of human beings as thinking creatures insists on questioning such a linguistic belief. Empirically and linguistically speaking, there are (English) verbs that behave adjectivishly. These are, to some extent, verbs, yet to another extent have the properties of adjective. It shows that there are English verbs that are ‘verbier’ than others. It means that there are English verbs that have more powerful verbal properties than other verbs. English transitive verbs can potentially behave adjectivishly, but English intransitive verbs cannot. This empirical and linguistic fact demonstrates that the degree of discreteness of word category is not something definitional and conclusive anymore. The findings elucidate that the verbal category is something fuzzy. Its fuzziness is evidenced by the acceptability of a certain verbal category to be treated adjectivishly. Accordingly there has been a new horizon to understand the nature of language in order to have better insight on what language is. It shows that scientifically speaking the pursuit to achieve more complete perspective to uncover the essence of language is something open to do. It justifies that the truth of scientific theories is open-ended.
