Isi artikel
This paper aims to analyze the pattern of SBY open letter and to find out some linguistic features reflecting attitudinal lexemes realizing tenor. Additionally, it includes the analysis of direct and indirect attitudinal lexemes and their classification in the three domains of attitudinal meaning; affect, judgment, and appreciation (Martin and White, 2005). The study reveals the whole domains of attitude are reflected directly and indirectly in some lexemes in the letter. Nevertheless, the domain of meaning appreciation is expressed more than another two domains of meaning. In the letter, SBY is showing his power to persuade all the readers, especially the world leaders. Further, it is also used to convince two fighting countries to stop the war soon. In this regard, SBY tries to be neutral and does not stand for any sides as shown in the attitudinal lexemes throughout the letter.
