The rather elaborate system of object-verb agreement found in Magahi raises the question of the parameters of agreement in South Asian languages and in its place in characterizing India as a linguistic area. What makes Magahi even more interesting is the existence of an addressee component as a parameter of agreement and a complex set of conditions on the alignment as well as the suspension of agreement.
