This article is a case study of a five-week summer program for Spanish teachers conducted in Mexico City. Both qualitative and quantitative methods are used in examining outcomes. A comparison of pre- and post-test scores on listening, speaking, reading and writing instruments shows significant progress in these four skills. Information drawn from program evaluations as well as from reports submitted one year later by the participants themselves and by their immediate supervisors help in understanding the contributions of the various features of the program to its success, and to identi@ long-term results
