General Government is perceived by some as a duty of the "Pamong Praja" who pay attention actively and freel all the needs of people who are not specially left to the other of state's agencies. Thus, the general government is the field of duty of pamong praja, as it is the reminder of the affairs that are not a matter for local household and not a matter for anything other government agencies. Pamong praja as the executor of general government has been existed long before Indonesia's independance. in fact it is said that the dutch colonialism entrenched its anchor for about 350 years in Indonesia, Mainly because of the control of the pamong praja corps. After the independance, the structure of pamong praja governance that used to be called "pangreh praja" continued with the task of running the affairs of the general government based on the principle of de\-concentration. This Paper shall discuss the pamong praja as the executor of general government in the course of history with its fluctions over time.
