Isi artikelSeven correlates of reading comprehension were examined for predictive validity, difficulty, and discriminability. Twenty- seven Iranian college students were administered a series of eight test batteries so that there was a repeated measure sample size of 178. Cloze-recognition, synonym-antonym selection, multiple-choice sentence selection, question-written response, and grammaticality of response predictors were examined at two levels of context difficulty. Intermediate difficulty synonym-antonym selection (r = .768) and multiple-choice sentence selection (r = .736) exhibited the highest correlations with the criterion.
