Most genre studies have focused on the prestigious genre of research articles. As Swales nformation structure of 20 master’s theses in applied linguistics using the computer software AntConc. The results show that a majority of the theses still adopt the traditional I-Lr-M-R-D-C structure, which is different from the article-compilation or topic-based structures used by many Ph.D. dissertations
