In this study, the authors examined the journal Cognition and Instruction to discover trends from the past decade (2003-2012). They looked at trends in article topics, research methods, authorship, an article citations by analysing keyword frequencies, performing phrase counts of article abstracts, classifying studies according to various methods, and analysing data generated by Google Scholar. The article provides evidence of the journal's focus on the how of learning throughout the decade, particularly in K-16 settings, and highlights an increase in theoretical ariticle from 2008 to 2012. The authors conclude by comparing their findings with with the stated aims and scope og the jurnal.
