This study to evaluate the implementation of 'PNPM Mandiri', a government program for community empowerment in East Kalimantan; in particular talking about the involment and its benefits for women. The research was conducted by subjected the program managers and the women through in-depth interviews to obtain information on the women involment and its benefits, especially in the four areas sampled; which are Samarinda, Paser District, West Kutai District, and North Penajam Paser district. The results showed that participation in PNPM Mandiri program has been commenced since the planning arrangement stage to the implementation one. It also showed that women are actively involved in programs relate to health, education, and saving & loans. The overall results show the program give both directly and indirectly benefit to women, as individuals and for families.
