Deforestation as the result of traditional way of forest exploitation tends to force out surrounding communities and gives rise to polemics. The solution then is to get the community and people living near the forest site involved in the process of managing forest resources and this solution is integrated in the concept of developing a community forest. This concept is aimed at increasing the community's participation and access to forest resources and in turn develops their economy. In this research, community forest in Gunung Kidul Yogyakarta Province is built with the view of developing a sustainable forests basing on the surrounding communities. Basis social and politic communities such as actors' relationship and local wisdom have contribution for improving ecology, especially on community forestry.
