Isi artikel
All soldiers are required to have good physical fitness in order to be ready to work anytime and anywhere when needed. Physical fitness is influenced by several factors, one of them is hemoglobin level. This study aims at analyzing the correlation between hemoglobin level and the score of physical fitness expressed as VO2 max of Secaba Students in Rindam Jaya in April 2012. This is a descriptive analytic study using cross sectional design and primary data. The sample size is determined using the Krejcie table. The sample were taken by simple random sampling. The results showed that only 2 of 92 secaba students have hemoglobin levels below normal. A total of 52 students (56.49%) have VO2 max value in less category, 37 students (40.21%) in the category of adequate and 3 students (3.3%) are in great category. Spearman correlation test shows that there is strong positive correlation between hemoglobin level and VO2 max (r = 0.681, p = 0.000). This study suggests that in addition to regular physical exercise, soldiers must also consider their hemoglobin level.
