Isi artikelDecentralization is an universal demand, in the sense that all countries implement the decentralization policy, even country which is so small in terms of area and population also requires a set number of tasks and authority of government affairs so that they can hold the local government in accordance with the characteristics of the areas concerned. The composition of the Republic of Indonesia is an unitary state with granting widest autonomy to the provinces, districts and cities. The question is, what kind of the widest autonomy desired by Indonesian Constitution of 1945? Regional autonomy policy contains at least nine dimensions, namely, the source of regional autonomy, the type of decentralization adopted, the division of authority between the Center and Regions, the scope of local autonomy, local finance, requirements and procedures of forming an autonomous region, local working units and personnel, the selection of regional head and deputy head of the regions, and local supervision. This paper intends to discuss the nine dimensions and option adopted for each dimension of local autonomy.
