Isi artikel
Merbau wood sawdust, rice husk and corn cob biomass are not utilized optimally but they have relatively high heating value. The purpose of this study are to: i) produce charcoal briquettes from mixed wood sawdust, rice husks corn cobs on various composition, ii) determine the properties of briquettes charcoal in the form of moisture (M), ash (ash), volatile matters (VM), fixed carbon (FC), heating value (HHV), density and compressive strength, iii) comparing the briquette quality produced on the various composition and the existing briquette standard, iv) perform combustion test to obtain maximum temperature, combustion duration and combustion efficiency. The research used and experimental method by utilizing the charcoal briquette of the merbau wood plane waste, rice husk, and corn cobs, and the combination of the raw material mixtures in the various compositions. The research result indicates that the briquettes produced have the average dimension of 65 mm diameter and heigh of 45 mm, equipped with a big hole in the middle, and four small holes in the margin, with average mass of 50 grams. The proximity analysis result is: water content of 5,79%, volatile matters of 35,10%, ash content of 15,33%, fixed carbon of 43,79%, and heating value of 4915 cal/gram. The average result of the physical test is: the compressive strength of 61,43 gram/cm2, and the density of 5920C and the maximum combustion efficiency on 74,3%.
