Isi artikelThere are a lot kinds of translations occurred in daily life. However, not all of those translations are conducted satisfactorily. Translators seldom conduct any assessment towards the quality of their translation. In the end, it may lead to unqualified translation. Therefore, in this research, the writer would like to conduct a descriptive research focusing on evaluating and assessing the quality of translation of a literary work by using theories of translation quality assessment. The data that the writer use is Barack Obama’s speech in 2012 UN General Assembly and its translations in Indonesian, and the theory that the writer chooses to use is Juliane House’s Translation Quality Assessment: A Model Revisited. The theory focuses on comparing both source text and target text to find out any mismatches and the errors. Afterwards, the statement of quality and type of translation can be produced. As the result, the writer expects there are only few mismatches and errors drawn from the process of comparison which leads to an acceptable translation. As a conclusion, it is expected that this research can provide an understandable model of translation quality assessment and it can give large implications for translators to conduct quality assessment towards their own translations.
