Papua people in West Papua province as part of Melanesian societies in socio – cultural and linguistic type is unique from the other Melanesian in Eastern Indonesia such Papua people in Papua province, Mollucas in Maluku Islands and Timorese in Nusa Tenggara Islands. In tradition of Papua cultural tribe, the people who are occupying the region categorized into Doberai people and Bomberai people. These people viewed from linguistic historical background are derived of Austronesian ancestral languages and Papuan ancestral languages. In common sense, the Austronesian languages and Papuan languages in types of word order and verbal agreement system share different types, anyhow the word structure and verbal agreement system of some big Papuan languages in West Papua province showing a sameness with the Austronesian languages. Why are the same? This research paper is written as part of anthropological linguistics investigation would like to provide a nearly reasonable answer. From socio – cultural perspective it will present the traditional leadership system practiced in Doberai and Bomberai area, and from linguistic perspective, it will present sociolinguistic condition of naming system and language phenomenon in some regions of West Papua province. The simple main reason why they are the same can be speculated that once had happened the region used to be a colony of Austronesian people.
