The present paper is designed to shed light on the intricacies of EnglishArabic subtitling. The data comprises a video clip of an interview with Mr. Galloway conducted by the Sky News TV station. The sample of the study consists of twenty MA translation students enrolled in the second semester of the academic year 2008/2009 at Al-Quds University. The paper reveals that subtitling students are faced with several linguistic, cultural and technical problems which may jeopardise communication, thought to be crucial for target audience. The study concludes with some pedagogical implications that will hopefully help subtitling students deal with the problems in question.
