Borax is a food additive often misued in food manufacture; for instance, kwetiaw coated with borax makes the noodles more solid and durable. The study examined wet kwetiaw noodles in Sunter Agung district, North Jakarta, by a random sample of 5 out of 8 kwetiaw sold in the traditional market of Sunter Agung, North Jakarta. Qualitative analysis was done after sample extraction, with concentrated sulfuric acid, flame, turmeric paper, silver nitrate solution, and barium chloride solution. Qualitative analysis was done with spectrophotometer using Curcumin reaction with a wavelength of 553 nm. The result of the analysis showed 4 out of 5 samples kwetiaw were borax positive with a concentration between 0.10-0.17%
