Isi artikelThe aim of this study was to investigate whether non-equivalences occurred in the translation of the local product packages and to identify the types of the non-equivalences. This study used two local product packages as data sampling, which was analyzed based on Hatim‘s (2001) theory of binary and non-binary errors. The results indicated that there was non-equivalence occurred in the translated texts of the two local product packages, which were mostly concerned with grammar and word choice. It can be concluded that product-package translated texts still need some room for improvement. It is suggested that product manufacturers pay more attention on equivalent translation with regard to grammar and word choice of their product-package printed texts. This will interest more non-local potential buyers that means increasing their selling as well.
