Introduction: Tempeh is a fermented soybean food product that consumed byalmost all of Indonesian people. Variations in raw material selection and use oftempeh, and also soybean processing affects the quality of tempeh. The aim ofthis study was to assess the effect of the provision of tempeh on rats bloodcholesterol. Methods: This was cross sectional, in vivo experimental study. Subject of thisstudy were 27 wistar rat strain aged 2 months. Those rats were divided into 3groups: control group (standar diet), rats fed moderate amount tempeh group(10 grams tempeh head plus standar diet), and high amount tempeh group (20 grams/head). After treatment for 20 days, then fasted for 12 hours. On the dayfollowing blood sampling was performed tail and blood cholesterol level weremeasured using EasyTouch Blood Cholesterol Meter (ET-301). Results: This experiment showed that there was significant differences be-tween the control group and with the moderate amount tempeh group (p=0.003), and also with the high amount tempeh group(p=0.000). There was no signifi-cant differences between moderate amount tempeh group with high amounttempeh group (p=0.077). Conclusions: The differences amount of tempeh did not affect blood choles-terol level of rats.
