According to the multicultural approach, the situation of guidance and counseling is not merely viewed as a cultural meeting, but also viewed as a basic understanding to the complexity of student personality, having to be paid attention by counselors and lecturers. Based on broadest definition of culture, the multicultural approach is applied in all human relations, including counseling. Multiculturalism is categorized as "the fourth force" in the theoretical discourse of counseling, and its application. In the process of multicultural guidance and counseling, guide or counseling and lecturer have to understand their selves, including their cultural bias. The capability of guide or counselor to understand his/her self is a starting point to understand another (that is a student). In relation to career planning, the counselor, applying the multicultural approach, helps students to make plan and decision for their careers.
