Isi artikelChildren have different ways of expressing emotions from how adults do. Children are still very limited in meaning every event and resolving problems they experience. They tend to solve problems less properly and even aggravating their circumstances. Therefore children's counseling approach is very unique and different from adult's. One of the methods and approaches that can be done by counselors in providing counseling service for children is using media in its process. There are a lot of methods used in counseling for children, one of which is the use of animal miniature. Children generally act instinctively to reveal their true condition, so this is an opportunity for counselors to help them to express their ideas and emotions by using anmal miniature as media. The focuses of this media use are to help children projecting their emotions and to find solutions for problems they are experiencing. The main purpose of children counseling using animal miniature is having the children able to tell their story about their perceptions of their personal relationships and the relationships wih their family. The benefit of using animal miniature in children counseling process namely: helping children to explore their relationship with people in the past, present and future; obtaining a clearer understanding of their position in family; exploring the fears associated with their relationship in the future; Exploring possible solutions for problem in relationship. In this using animal miniature counseling process, counselors are expected to encourage the children to focus on telling their story about the relationships with others and family. In children counseling using animal miniature, there are five specific skills that must be mastered by counselors, namely observation, content and feeling reflections, statement and open question uses. The five skills are integrally applied along with some counseling approaches which are composed in five phases. The first phase is the use of Psychotherapy Client Center approach. At this phase, counselors relate a close relationship with the children (in a conducive atmosphere) until the children feel safe and comfortable talking to them. Some things counselors need to do are observation, giving feedback, using open-ended questions to help children exploring themselves and their present circumstances. Additionally, counselors also conduct satiation (creating a situation so that the children realize the improperly resistance action) and Prescribing the Resistance (creating a reversed situation that should be so that the children are "forced" to release their resistance). The next step is mirroring (doing what children do to revive them on their behavior). Children who see a very different response to them will gradually open up and trust their hearts to counselors. Children will feel comfortable on the relationship with counselors because they feel accepted and understood. The process still continues by using animal miniature so that counselors can catch the main problem od the children which is the goal of this throughout counseling process. Second phase: counselors use Gestalt Therapy, which helps children to discover emotions that may have been stored and hidden and to express emotions in a different way than they ever did. Third phase: counselors use Narrative Therapy, which is done in several ways: (1) reconstructing the children's story in a new form, (2) externalizing, (3) Exception, (4) Scaling Question, (5) Miracle Question, so the children have the option to look at their problem from different perspective and helps children to understand their emotions and to understand there are options and opportunities for change. Fourth phase: counselors use Cognitive Behavior Therapy, which is to help children to discover the correct concept of thinking and to choose the proper behavior of the right way of thinking. Fifth phase: This phase is called the termination phase, which is the final phase when counselors see that the counseling has been successful and can be terminated
