Isi artikel
Translating trough languages means to put the same meaning into a different system. Ahmad Tohari, as an author, should undertake the similar process, when he rewrote his Indonesian-written masterpiece, Ronggeng Dhukuh Paruk, in Javanese language. He easily intercanged the meaning from a system to another, without much adaptation. However, the different systems still leave some gaps that an adaptation sometimes is unavoidable. One of them is a tranformation of process type. Eight process types are transformed. This makes 32 variations. The processes changed into another in the translation are the processes of doing, happening, existensial, behavioral, verbal, attributive, identifying and seeing. The most variation is the change into an existential process, indicated by the word ”ana” (there is). The adaptation of ”doing” process into ”existential” process reaches 57%. It implies that Javanese has a different system in evoking the same meaning packed in Indonesian language.
