Using certain strategies in translating terminologies and keeping the consistency of using the strategies have been a challenging job for a translator. It is because the translator need to decide whether they have to keep the originality of the terminologies or translate it completely into the target language so that the real concept of the terminologies will not disappear ( Jayantini, 2011). This paper, therefore, tried to analyze the strategies used in translating ELT terminologies in Brown’s Principle of Language Learning and Teaching book, the dominant strategies used by the translators, and the consistency of applying the strategies. This is a descriptive study. The analysis was conducted through describing the strategies and the consistency of the translation. The result shows that the literal translation and literal translation and borrowing are the most frequent strategies used by the translators. However, the translators were still inconsistent in applying those strategies to all the ELT terminologies that they translated.
