Ideationally, the reality as it is represented through the language is categorized through kinds of processes or activities. Experiential meaning is a part of ideational meaning which is then the central tool to measure the translation equivalence. Applying the theory, it is found out that the differences on the languages involved may lead the translator in a situation with no option than adding or omitting the experiential meaning element(s). Relying on the data sources involving three languages (Indonesian, Banyumasan Javanese, and English), the paper explores a phenomenon of such unavoidable deletion or addition in translation and tries to find out reason(s) behind such strategies. The exploration was done on syntactic level through Hallidayan approach focusing on the types of processes, the respective participants and the circumstances.
